Perspective: Attachment to Love

A common topic of this blog is love and its various forms and definitions of love. A common difficulty I have with the concept of love is that I can become attached to love, or to the objects of my love.

Is love impermanent???

I would propose that love pervades all. So then perhaps it lies in the object of my love, the difficulty that is. But for soo long the objects of love is how we come to learn and understand love. Perhaps that is the purpose of manifestation...

I like the idea that love is real, but because we are in illusion we attach many unreal things to our love. We imagine that we love a particular person because our illusion of individuality demands it. Attachment, fear, and sorrow associated with love probably all stem from this illusion.

In reality I would say that love simply is everywhere and for everything, without attachments etc.

And I love you all as well. Beard my friend you hit the nail on the head about an illusion and attaching many unreal things to love. And I agree with your statement that love simply is everywhere and for everything.

I am curious, which reality do you speak of???

Well, I guess the picture that I hold most dear is that given by Meher Baba. He said that something to the effect that Love alone is real and all else is illusion. God is the only reality and everything else is God playing with illusion so that he can become aware of himself.

So in reality you and I and everyone else would be just imaginary figures all dreamed up by the same person.

I can almost taste that part. I mean I can see to some extent that "I" am dreaming myself. But of course that "I" can not be real either.

"God playing with Illusion so that he can become aware of himself" Words of wisdom, and we speak of individuals who seak enlightenment. Or individuals playing with illusion so that they may become enlightened. The next connection I leave to you..

Illusions playing with illusions to escape illusion.

It almost convinces me to give up.(in a good way) :)
